Visiting the Flower Fields Carlsbad

Spring is here! Even though it doesn't really feel like it over in California this year. We've had the craziest winter, but it definitely feels more like spring with the arrival of all the gorgeous flowers popping up around southern California.

My favorite place to see the blooms is at The Flower Fields in Carlsbad.

The Flower Fields in Carlsbad are the result of over 85 years of floral cultivation. These flowers are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year - from early March through early May.

Here's some things you need to know before your next visit to the flower fields!

2023 Dates:

The dates for the 2023 season are March 1 – May 14, 2023. The Flower Fields are in bloom between March and May, with the best time to visit being mid March through late April as that's when you’ll catch the fields at their peak bloom.

I highly recommend purchasing tickets online before you go. It makes you pick an exact time, but I've been fine going at whatever time for the day you pick

What Should I Wear?

I've noticed that solid prints or white photographs best. There are so many bright colors, so I like to wear white in my photos. The lightening will be the best in the morning, as it gets harsher throughout the day. It will be crowded, but I've never had any trouble taking photos in the crowd.

How To Get The Best Photo?

You aren't supposed to go actually in the flower garden, so I would advise taking the photos from further away so it looks like you are immersed in the flowers. There are also a few benches that you can take photos on!
